Famous Electric Bass Players

Everyone loves music, and when it comes to rock n’ roll, both angsty teenagers and older adults going through a mid-life crisis can be found cruising in their convertibles jamming out to Great White. With so many people addicted to the amazing world of music, one may ask the questions like, “Why?” or “Who is the genius behind such an attraction?” The answers are many, but one is the creativity and talent of the electric bass guitarists.

Maxwell Scott Green

Maxwell Scott Green began playing music early in life. Inspired by ‘80s hair bands such as AC/DC, Motley Crue and Metallica, Max started the band Escape the Fate in 2004 with his best friend, Ronald Radke. Max’s devotion is evident in the fact that he’s stayed true to the band despite a dramatic replacement in the lead singer.

Johnathan Lewis Seward

Johnathan Lewis Seward, also known as Johnny Christ, joined Avenged Sevenfold in 2002. Johnny took the place of Dameon Ash after going on a summer tour as a roadie for the band. Filling in for a few shows set the stage for Johnathan to drop out of high school and take on the permanent position as bass guitarist.

Mark Evans

Mark Evans was the original bassist for the legendary band AC/DC. Although he did play on the albums High Voltage, TNT, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Let There Be Rock, he was fired just before the 1977 tour. It is said that Evans and Angus didn’t get along and despite his talent and genius, he was replaced by Cliff Williams.

Rick Savage

Rick Savage is the original bass player for Def Leppard and is one of the three original members of the band founded in 1977. Savage currently stays with the band, making amazing music as ever, and doesn’t plan on putting away his guitar until he “can’t do it anymore.”

It may seem that bass players are overshadowed by the lead guitarists, drummers and singers, but the lives and talents of these artists would show otherwise. Bass players provide movement in the music and are musical characters any band or fan can rally around. Though they may be in the back strummin’ along unnoticed, bass guitarists make legends, and their underdog status can appeal to any rock n’ roll lover.
